Intel Corporation has announced that very soon we will see computers and laptops that will have Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) on board. And it will happen in 2024 or 2025. It will be 2 times more productive than Wi-Fi 6.

This annoncement was maked be Eric McLaughlin, Intel Vice President of Wireless Solutions: "[Wi-Fi 7] will be in computing devices such as laptops by 2024…we expect it to hit mainstream markets in 2025".

Interesting that new version can reach data transfer speed 5.8 Gbps. Also this standart, that should be registered by IEEE in 2024, can use these frequency bands: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz.

It will be able to provide a 2x increase in data transfer speed compared to Wi-Fi 6 and 6E. The IEEE expects to finalize Wi-Fi 7 specifications in 2024, and some vendors are already working on draft specifications. For better traffic management devices campatible with Wi-Fi 7 will automatically switch benween frequencies. Also it can use 20, 40, 80, 160 and 320 MHz.

“With 320MHz channels, we're likely to see new ways to use Wi-Fi, where you can do things like find out if someone is in the room, how many people are there, whether they're moving or not,” says McLaughlin.
